Michael started his show career by winning both his 6-9 puppy and futurity classes at American Spaniel Club 2001. He finished his championship at a year old, with two specialty show majors, two specialty Best Bred-By and a Best In Sweepstakes, breeder/owner handled by me. After that, I placed his future in the capable hands of my good friend Joan Stallard, who had so beautifully guided his father Gordon to a fantastic show career. Thanks to her, Michael became the #2 top winning dog All-Systems for 2003. His most memorable wins included an all-breed Best in Show, 25 Best in Specialty Shows, Best of Variety at Westminster Kennel Club, 2003 and BOS to Best of Variety at the ASC Flushing Spaniel Specialty Show 2003. In July 2004, Mikey came out of retirement and returned to the show ring to win both the Judge's Choice and People's Choice at American Spaniel Club's first Top 20 invitational. At the January 2005 Flushing Spaniel Club show, Joan and Mikey won Best of Variety. Then it was off to Westminster 2005 for another Best of Variety. It was an exciting finish to his show career. Now that he is retired, we are looking forward to his producing ability. He is the sire of 11 champions.
